One thing is certain in this life: Change and we can’t escape change. We have little control over circumstances that occur. We do, however, have control over ourselves. To approach change as an opportunity for personal growth. How we manage all the feelings that arise during change can impact how smooth or bumpy that road will be.
Some examples of changes that have impacted people with whom I work are:
- Divorce
- Having a child (even a second or third)
- Moving
- Caring for an aging parent
- Job change
- Child going to college or moving away
Even the most exciting of changes can leave us feeling overwhelmed and scared. It can be helpful to talk through the full range of responses to change in order to move forward with a sense of hope. This is where I come in. I am a firm believer that naming things and bringing them forward are important steps to grow through the change and become stronger.
